I've often thought this Step Stool should really be considered a "storage" project -- it finally gives you easy access to all those high, out-of- reach shelves, like the one in the kitchen over the
refrigerator.
The Step Stool is made of solid oak, which gives it strength, and enough weight that it doesn't skitter across the kitchen floor when you step on it. But it's still light enough to easily carry around. The lower step slides in under the top step when not in use.
This project was first published in Woodsmith No. 111.
CONSTRUCTION: The Step Stool is 16" high x 16-3/4" wide x 14" deep. This stool is made of solid red oak, with through mortise and tenon joinery.
