Dinner isn't the only beefy thing in the kitchen these days - check out our new kitchen work center.
Whether you're going to be chopping vegetables, rolling out a pie crust, or tenderizing meat, you can really put some muscle into it. This work center isn't going to budge. It has four solid legs and traditional joinery. Nothing fancy, just thick mortise and tenon joints that create a stout base that's not going to rack or move.
But the base isn't the only "beefy" part of this project. The work surface is really a large cutting board, made by gluing up pieces of hard maple "face to face" so the more durable edge grain is on top.
The work center is designed so you can work comfortably while standing up. And even though it takes up only 6 square feet of floor space, it also provides a lot of extra storage. It has one large drawer (that looks like two small ones), and two shelves, one fixed and the other adjustable.
This Kitchen Work Center project plan was originally published in Woodsmith No. 129. It's made of solid hard maple and a piece of 1/4"-thick hardboard for the drawer bottom. WHAT YOU GET. These plans are CUSTOM PRINTED FOR YOU and delivered by First Class Mail to your door. The Kitchen Work Center project plan is a ten-page, plan. It includes complete, step-by-step instructions, 19 detailed drawings, a materials list, and a cutting diagram. It also includes plans for making a "no-slide" pastry board.
