Anyone who works in an office cubicle knows why you want a corner computer desk -- it's the most efficient use of space. Monitors are so deep that they waste a lot of desktop space, except when you can tuck them into a corner. But most office computer desks really aren't very attractive, not the sort of thing you want in your home.
Now you can build your own corner computer desk (and a very attractive one) using this plan. The photo shows the desk with an optional extension wing on the right. The extension adds desktop space, storage, and versatility, since it can be used to the left or the right of the corner desk. Plans for the extension are included.
CONSTRUCTION: The basic corner unit of the Corner Computer Desk is 52-3/4" wide by 52-3/4" deep by 30" high. (The extension adds 32" to either side.) It is constructed of layered panels consisting of an MDF core, black plastic laminate on the top surface, 1/4" cherry plywood on the sides and ends, and solid cherry edging. The desk is assembled with knock-down fasteners which make moving, storing, and reconfiguring it much easier.
This desk was originally published in Woodsmith No. 109.
