You
might expect a project like this to require plenty of skill
and tools to complete. However, with a few tricks from the
Woodsmith shop, I think you'll find this project suprisingly
easy to buildwith a fairly simple set of tools.
We divided the overall structure into four simple, workable sections;
kickboard, lower case, pendulum case, and head case. Then, using
a few common router bits, we cut the molding in separate layers
and stacked the pieces to make the finished edges appear more detailed.
We'll take you step-by-step through the entire project, with detailed
illustrations and tool set up diagrams. We've included a list of
mail order sources that offer hardware and clockwork kits. Overall
dimensions: 17½W x 10½D x 74H. This project originally
appeared in Woodsmith magazine No. 70.

Suggested power tools: Table Saw, Drill Press, Router and
assortment of router bits.
