When you come right down to it, to be a woodworker is to enjoy building boxes. Dressers are boxes, even tables and chairs are boxes (with open sides). And this Apothecary Cabinet is right up there with best of the boxes. In this project, you get to build ten of them -- the case and nine drawers.
Based on the old-time pharmacist's cabinet, today, this design is perfect for organizing sewing supplies, or craft supplies, or fly-tying supplies, as shown in the photo.
CONSTRUCTION. We built our cabinet out of solid cherry with maple drawer sides and birch plywood for the cabinet back and drawer bottoms. The overall size of the Apothecary Cabinet is 14-1/2" wide x 9" deep x 15" high.
This project was originally published in Woodsmith No. 97.
